Non-Discrimination Policy Statement for
Publications, Printed Materials and Electronic Media

Short Form - Recommended for permanent flyers and posters, small pamphlets, et al.

The University of Connecticut supports all state and federal laws that promote equal opportunity and prohibit discrimination.

Long Form - Recommended for books, booklets, brochures, catalogs, directories, and similar documents or publications that offer more flexibility in the use of space. The language about criminal records (bracketed at the end of this form) may be excluded from publications aimed at student audiences or printed materials not related to employment matters.

The University of Connecticut policy prohibits discrimination in education, employment, and in the provision of services on the basis of protected group identity (unless there is a bona fide occupational qualification related to employment), or any other unlawful factor. In Connecticut, protected class characteristics include race, sex (gender, sexual harassment), age, national origin, ethnicity, physical or mental disabilities, learning disability, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, status as a disabled veteran or veteran of the Vietnam Era, and any other group protected by civil rights laws.

Note: Official University publications, regardless of format - printed, electronic, and other media such as videotapes, compact discs, online documents (HTML, PDF), etc., - should contain a non-discrimination statement. Further, refer to the University's Policy on Providing Information in Alternative Formats.
